Backdrop: It’s a Makkan Surah revealed at some gap after the initial revelations (parts of Alaq and other surahs). It starts by calling Prophet SWS with the name “Al Muddathir” which means “the one who is covered (with a garment)”. Due to recent events such as revelation of Surah Alaq, and parts of some other Surahs (Qalam, Muzzamil) and the view of Jibrael AS in his original form (taking over the entire horizon with 600 wings with pearls and gold hanging), Prophet SWS was in a state of shivering or fear or shock, and because of this he was mostly staying under a cover (garment).
Lessons for us as well:
1. With this Surah, Prophet SWS was commanded to arise (qiyam ul lail) and for the first time commanded to warn others.
2. Additionally, Allah SWT asks Prophet SWS to purify himself and keep patience during his mission of guidance and warning others.
3. To make takbir of only Allah.
