Tafsir
The Surah is the clarification of Islamic faith in a very simple way.
قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ أَحَدٌ ١
This verse proclaims the oneness of Allah. The word “Ahad“ used only for Allah and for no one else. It means single or only one.
ٱللَّهُ ٱلصَّمَدُ ٢
One of the names of Allah is “Samad“ the Eternal refuge, the self-sufficient the Absolute and the one on Whom all depends and all creatures turns to for fulfillment of their needs and aspirations.
لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ٣
Allah was not born, nor did He give birth. Therefore, He has no beginning no ending too! Allah is the Creator of each and everything and He was not Created by any power. This verse made it clear that Allah is one, the sustainer, He has no offsprings nor He was born.
وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌۢ ٤
This last verse of the Surah declares that Allah is beyond comparison. There is none in the entire Universe, nor ever was, nor ever can be, who is equal to Allah SWT. He is Unique in every aspect that’s why word “Ahad”means alone is used.
